General purpose conveyor belts are generally used in industrial conveying systems where the material handled is dry,
abrasive, and capable of causing regular surface wear on the belt cover. These belts are commonly selected
for plants handling crushed stone, aggregates, coal, clinker, ores, sand, limestone, and other bulk materials
that demand better abrasion resistance during continuous operation.
In practical use, general purpose conveyor belts are suitable for normal temperature conveying applications where the focus
is on durability, dependable day-to-day service, and reduced belt wear under demanding material handling
conditions. They are widely used in industries such as mining, cement, power, steel, ports, and aggregate
processing, where conveyor belts are expected to perform reliably across loading, transfer, and discharge points.
General purpose conveyor belts are often preferred where service conditions are tougher than standard general-purpose conveying and
where better resistance to abrasion is important for improving belt life. However, if the application involves
excessive heat, oil and grease, fire risk, or other special operating conditions, a more specialized conveyor
belt grade may be required. For general industrial service involving abrasive bulk material under normal working
conditions, M24 remains one of the most widely used and practical conveyor belt grades.
